Embark on an unforgettable journey through the magical Sacred Valley of the Incas. Discover ancient ruins, charming villages, and breathtaking landscapes as you immerse yourself in the region’s rich history and culture.
You will discover one of the most fertile valleys in southern Peru: the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The tour begins between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. with pick-up from your hotel in the city of Cusco. Then, we will head northwest from the city in our tourist bus, passing through picturesque towns until we reach the Corao viewpoint, where we will get a preliminary view of the entire Sacred Valley and the imposing snow-capped mountains that protect the area.
Itinerary:
The first archaeological site we will visit is Pisaq (Andean partridge). We will access this site via an asphalt road. As we ascend, we will be able to appreciate the impressive Inca terraces that border the mountains, giving us the impression of being part of them. Within Pisac, we will visit Qanturaquay, Intihuatana (or Solar Clock), and Tanqanamarka, before descending to the town of Pisac to explore its artisan market, allowing some time to buy souvenirs.
Afterward, we will continue our journey toward Ollantaytambo, making a stop in the town of Urubamba, where you can have lunch before continuing to Ollantaytambo, an ancient resting place known as “the living Inca city,” as you can still see houses with Inca foundations inhabited by locals. The most important site is the Temple of the Sun, located at the highest point of the archaeological center. To access it, we will need to climb hundreds of stairs, which will require a bit of effort, but it will be worth it, as the view from this location is indescribable. Later, we will head back to Pisaq, where we will visit its traditional market and silver workshops. We will conclude our tour with a 45-minute journey back to Cusco.
